    Re: [Help]Pointers

    I'm sure some of these talk about pointers somewhere. I haven't looked through all them so I don't know which ones do and how in-depth they get but here: http://www.computer-books.us/cpp_2.php

    Re: [Help]Pointers

    well there isn't much to them... they literally point to a memory address of a variable in memory

    I'm sure you already know an address is the location of a variable, function, struct, etc. in memory (as a 4-byte dword)

    in C there are operators you can use to access and manipulate the value of the variable at that address, you can access the address of the pointer or the variable that the pointer points to
    Code:
    <chaplja|> i'm taking over nixcoders
    <Smileman`> cool

    Code:
    int main ()
    {
      int firstvalue, secondvalue;
      int * mypointer;

      mypointer = &firstvalue;
      *mypointer = 10;
      mypointer = &secondvalue;
      *mypointer = 20;
      cout << "firstvalue is " << firstvalue << endl;
      cout << "secondvalue is " << secondvalue << endl;
      return 0;
    }

    Re: [Help]Pointers

    Yah, i already saw those , i was meaning like a page of code, that shows what it does with it, how you can use it, like what you would do for making a "hack".

    Re: [Help]Pointers

    then maybe you should read it again.. as well as take a couple months to learn the C++ language.. looking at some code is not gonna make you any better at coding.. only you actually learning something will.. unless you just want to be a copy-paste coder.. which I hear is super leet

    Re: [Help]Pointers

    I know how to code allot in c++, but not just efficient, so I'm trying to get my code efficient.

    Re: [Help]Pointers

    I know how a pointer works, and such,
    & gives us the address
    * gives us the value of a var,
    but i guess pointers don't go that advanced, so I'm fine on pointers now, i just need to code and get my efficiency up.
    Thanks
