I tried putting the bin and lib into platform sdk and still it can't find windows.h

It appears you are using VC++ 2005 (8.0)... if it is the express edition, Microsoft made an awesome decision to ship it without any of the windows files. : If you haven't done so already, you should download the Platform SDK then read HERE carefully. That should help resolve the issue.
