    picture search

    Ive been trying to create a tool that would scan the screen for a certain picture: more practically say the Enemy head... then it would point at this picture. This obviously has an advantage of NOT being a hack so shouldn't be at all ever be detected by any anticheat tools. (?)
    But it is also very problematic since it very greatly depends on many thing such as resolution, image quality, ingame scaling (such as FOV scaling of models), distance (makes the picture smaller) and so on.
    Ive asked jmpnop, he suggested scanning the memory for patterns. now question is how would the memory hashes change to account for all those things?
    Also any other ideas?
    Also is it possible for anti-cheat tools to detect something that alters the windows rather then the game. since the tool would point at rather then "aim" at something...

    Re: picture search

    Long time ago, I experimented a bit with SCAR on ET. Scar is a 'color clicker', mostly used (& designed for) runescape. It is possible though to load an image into scar & have it check for that. Problem with 3d-objects is that that image tends to alter while turning around the subject (both sideways as up & down). In theory it should be possible to load in many different angles and use a high tolerance, though it's probably not worth it. I've been able to let it work at a certain angle, but I can't guarantee total success in order to name it an aimbot.
    If you could somehow make it work though, I assume it to be very hard to detect it.

    I could be wrong, but when I wrote ultrix my first idea was to replace some image that was loaded in memory. I searched all of ET's memory for the byte patterns of that image, but I couldn't find it.

    It appears after the image gets loaded mipmaps are created and the pic is uploaded to video memory. I have no experience retrieving stuff from there.

    Anyway if the subject is partly about detection, I should note that with passive hacks (that don't mess with PB) its impossible to make them undetected. Each program leaves fixed code patterns in memory, once these are known (i.e. someone submits the bot) they will be picked up if scanned for.

    The only thing is, PB doesn't seem to care all that much, and dont go out of their way to find these patterns. They prefer to search for strings in the pk3 instead.
    int *(*(*(*x)()) [10]) ();

    True, but scar is a compiler with some extra quick commands, not a bot per se. So shouldn't appear on pb's ban list.

    yes but forexample a macro program and things like scar are not ET bots. so having them do anything on your computer while running ET is in no way a bannable offense. Unless they do that whole thing with banning random strings like they did for ETBot...
