Thread: [CODING]Could someone point me in the right direction?

I know alot of the basics of C++, but I haven't really played with C++ for about 2 years, I know of Cplusplus.com to brush up on my basics.

What I would like to know, is what should I look into for coding bots?

I know I need to learn basics, OpenGl, and D3D, but what else should I look into?

Definitely learn some ASM and get familiar with Olly or IDA.

Since you know C/C++ you should download a basehook, download a game sdk, and start programming your own bot. Once you get a feel for it you can move on to advanced concepts like hooking details and offset finding.

Any particular ASM, or will any kind do? aka, MASM, NASM, etc. I do, however realize that ASM doesn't work on all CPU architecture, that AMD and Intel arent the same ASM, but other than that, any other specifics?

I will probably have to brush up a little bit, but I think I can work something, once I understand what is going on inside them.

yes they are... x86 architecture

Sweet! I was probably thinking x86 and x64 aren't the same.

wha? the architectures are similar; a big difference with x64 is an extended instruction set for 64 bit registers. not really sure if there's anything else changed.

Gah, if I had known THAT one, I would have started learning ASM a long time ago before I worked on C++. I just didn't want to learn 300 types of ASM, but if what you are saying is correct, then that shouldn't happen. ASM will be a language I will learn, been wanting to anyway.
