Thread: lonewolf... CoD4 -- wat a mess :D

yeah, i have had lotsa questions, but i think i am getting the hang of it, alright i have only been on one server the whole time i've got the game, but what exactly does this mean

damn this is like the only flaw i have found in my whole game
usually kicks because of this about a minute into playing
please dont say re-install

my cod4 wasnt running at the time but u think that might be somethin?

u need to upgrade pb, did u close your pnkbstr process?


About pnkbustr it always run, punkbuster is a spy, looks for stuff on your pc etc. it will always be on the process list unless u take it off

yes, once time i disabled it and it hasnt worked since

HELP!!! lol

i had cod4 working for a whole 2 days and i miss it alrdy and i am panicking like a monkey with no bananas because it took me about a whole 3 weeks to a month to gather all the stuff and get it working

restart pc and the process will come back up. you will be able to play. if not, download pbweb.exe and upgrade your punkbuster

I'm 99% sure that's your problem right there.
You need to change the PnkBstrB service to Automatic and start it. I've never used Vista before but I'm guessing, if its the same as XP, you'll have to click on the 'Services...' button at the bottom, find the PnkBstrB, right click on it and goto Properties, change the Startup Type to automatic and then start it yourself (or restart).

so these 2 have to be running all the time, doesnt that take up some serious ram or wats the deal, like my computer isnt the bomb shell but its not a piece of shit either, its inbetween, lets say my computer should be able to handle it but u know... i guess thats fine if its only like another 1k each.

pnkbsterA takes about 12k of ram (hardly anything) and I just end it every time I see it open. If B is open you can go ahead and end it because it automatically starts up whenever you play a punkbuster game.

The .exe's communicate with the server. pbcl just uses winsock to send data to local host at a specific port the .exe's are listening on. the .exe's then do encryption using wincrypt and do all the client<->server comms.

Basically if you stop the processes you will get kicked for Service Communication failure because the exe's do all the communication lol......................

so its ok to end them, but make sure they start when u start game, got it
