Thread: how to host

I'm pretty sure I've got a static ip.it hasn't changed since I got it.i would love to host few maps ect.so me and my mates can test cheats.also so it shows up on all seeing eye.a MUST..i have done the next thing.which some1 else posted,thanks cant rember who it was.
you have to choose dedicated server, you know it works when ET exits and runs the console, then you run ET again and you connect to the IP, how do you find out what it is? simple, bring down the console at the main menu of ET and look for an ip near the bottom, then you type /connect *enter that ip from the console* and you can connect, but make sure you do this over a clean install as any files people do not have but you do as the server will be downloaded at a very slow rate..i have tryed this apart from clean install.i realy hope some one can help.as its realy bugging me.iv set the server up ect.every thing is fine.but it just will not show up in allseeing eye.when i do choose dedicated server.a window pops up to tell me its not possible to play the game on the host machine are you sure you want to start dedicated server.i click yes then all that shows is the gray et console.thats when im stuck.any1 can help thankyou.i been trying for 7 days now no joy.

When you start the ded server you have to run a seperate ET and connect to play, then to get it to show up in ASE it must have been run for a while so that ASE can actually find it exists

NULL.you are the man m8.what can i say thank you.so easy when you no how.it was that simple dam.so that is good to go.1 prob the ping is showing 247 inall seeing eye an im in uktryed pingers but theres only1.dont no if theres anything i can do about that .cheers for getting me up an running

Alternatively you could just go to www.whatismyip.com and grab your ip from there. You should then be able to do "\connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" (x's obviously replaced by your ip) and successfully establish a connection to your server.
