Thread: Need your thoughts on a game

Think of a game like ET or CoD/CoD2, then think of the following things too.

Okay so here's the best description so far:

k basically
It mixes these modes: Strategy, FPS, Terrirtory/Zones
Right
When the map starts some dude becomes the 'commander'
and each team starts with a territory (lil blue/red circle areas on map)
and then you have to command your team with the map
Setup battle plans, hold fronts etc
and you can gain points n shit (like XP but better cos I thought of it)
and get new stuff, like more ammo etc
So like a proper war you havea leader and the troops and the leader plans everything and you must hold your zones
It would take some damn dedicated players but it would be fun

Thoughts? Would you play something like that?

Yep, I've always said it's going to be less of a public game and more for private/organised matches, but either way it will still be fun.

I've been trying to think of ways to make it more 'public friendly' but without completely changing how it works that would be hard.... any ideas?

muppet here is an idea..make a bot for the game and sell it under a different name (like i donno trelateppum)

in any case the game sounds nice and ill play as long as its teh free or i can get a cdkey (bribe muppet!) or crack or something for free...

The only problem i see with what you have is the number of people you need on each side;
if its a full scale war then you need i donno hundreds...then you can even do not xp but progressive advance in ranks..like you can have random spectators or just random factor that would also give out medals or what not...development permitting even trophy weapons/items/stuff ($$$???) but then you literally need 100s... (in this case inforcing team play is easy...make an invincible admin who kills anyone who doesn't "obey orders") In this game you could REWARD people for sacrificing them selves for the benefit of the team.

Come to think of it you could even make it into an RPG/FPS (something unique eh?) i donno something like "Life of Soldier Troops" (makes no sense but would make nice acronym L.O.S.T.) Something like if anyone ever played game called STALKER. it Attempted this on but since its single play and "online" servers involve just shooting around (well never played but been told as my game is bootleg...) Something like that where you could alternate actual shooting and other things...missions...separate story lines?!?! damn i think i am an idealist and this will take forever to make...but just thing how awsome it would be if you "constructed" story lines for individuals like you would log in and find yourself standing in a middle of some field field with a rifle saying "you deserted your platoon when you were ambushed during the night..." and then you have to like go back to the base...or get behind enemy lines and do some shit...
FC can you make a Role-playing section so i can just post this there?

if smaller scale then this sort of thing has already been made: ET CS CS:S COD...well almost any FPS that can involve more then just running and shooting (*cough Combat arms...) the fact that a lot of people seem to neglect that these games especially ET were designed for team play rather then just straight up shooting is very saddening and yet irreversible unless you change the players people will just tend to shoot anything without thinking (fuck who doesn't like doom?...how about doom where the little green guys or the giant floating heads are actual people sitting on the other end of the wire?...now where is teh chainsaw!?!?!?!) Its very hard to FORCE people to do things.

I've read that a few times now and each time I read it it seems better, I'm gonna keep reading it until I make the game It's definately something I want to do!
