Who would host there website with a new upcoming host?

Me and a friend purchased a dedicated server, we are setting it up at the moment. But, we kinda want to know if we are going the right way with prices.

This host will be up Mid-December early January.

We want the best prices people can find so we have came up with the following.

    Package 1: $3
    Disk Space: 3000 MB
    Bandwidth: 6000 MB

    Package 2: $4
    Disk Space: 6000 MB
    Bandwidth: 12000MB

Package 3: $5 (If we can't do it, you get your money back guaranteed + $5)
    Disk Space: Unlimited
    Bandwidth: Unlimited

    Reseller Package 1: $20
    Disk Space: Unlimited
    Bandwidth: Unlimited
    Resell: Unlimited Cpanels

    Reseller Package 2: $10
    Disk Space: Unlimited
    Bandwidth: Unlimited
    Resell: 3 Cpanels

    All packages will also include:
    Guaranteed 99% Uptime
    24/7 Support
    Daily Site Backups
cPanel (Comes with all the pre configured scripts etc)
    Email Spam Filters
    Email Virus Protection
    Webmail Access
    IMAP Support
    Email Forwarders
    Email Auto Responders
    Email Box Trappers
    Unlimited Sub-Domains
    Unlimited POP-3 Email Accounts
    Unlimited Email Listings
    Unlimited MySQL Databases
    Unlimited PostgreSQL Databases
    Unlimited FTP Accounts
    ... and more

Any feedback would be nice. Such as what your looking for in a host, the price range your in and the things you need.

It's used to be 15 dollors a month for the site i was admin for a past clan but there was never problems with the site and it was nice and fast.
I'm pretty sure you could even raise the amount xD you have very cheap prices
although you can get sites for free but they suck, don't have enough memory

Something you might to add towards your costumers:

    • There's no such thing as unlimited: if one creates a few TB in a matter of hours, are you ready to handle it?
    • Inform them about the connection speed: 100Mb/s, about the location, provide them with a testfile to download to test the download speed themselves.
    • Any information about the hardware and the mount of concurrent users that will run on it? Or guaranteed portion of hardware resources? Burstable?
    • With the prices, include whether it's monthly based.
    • 24/7 support with only 2 people is hard to pull off...
    • For the 99% uptime: where will it be located and do you have a UPS in order to get that 99%?

    • Yes, my host will add hdds.. And I don't see how/why anybody would need TBs of stuff (Especially in a matter of days, let-alone hours..) There technically is no quota for anybody but if people are using their space too fast, it's quite obvious they aren't there to be a legit website. ALSO.. Download scripts and stuff like that are not allowed. (Final decisions will be in the TOS)
    • Location: Softlayer Datacenter Dallas, TX. USA. Connection speed: 100mbps.
    • I'll get back to you on that one
    • Wow, I can't believe I didn't catch that one.. I didn't write this up, my friend did but I read it over very fast.. It's monthly (Will be clearly shown when we get the site up)
    • 24/7/365 Email support.. Live support isn't 24/7, only when we are online..
    • Yes, softlayer does have power battery backup generators. (again..)Location: Softlayer Datacenter Dallas, TX. USA

Re: Who would host there website with a new upcoming host?

"Unlimited" will instantly turn off 80% of customers nowadays, as xHalt has already mentioned, it simply doesn't exist.

Also, installing cPanel/WHM and hoping that you'll never need to do any "real" server configuration simply isn't going to come true as cPanel's a useless pile of end-user-prettiness crap.

Definitely wondering how you're going to throttle users if there's a lot of them buying... Failover etc etc. 99% Uptime is only 88(ish) hours of downtime per year which is like 15(ish) minutes of downtime per day, sure it sounds easy but once you get a lot of clients, a single server will struggle.

    good luck anyway
